Role: Director James joined Richard Murphy Architects in March 1997 to be part of the team working on the Dundee Contemporary Arts utilizing his CAD and lighting experience. Following this, he was Project Architect for the Jack Kilby Computing Centre for Napier university and the master-plan for their Merchiston Campus and the £6.4 million Award winning Performing Arts Centre in Caernarfon, North Wales, completed in 2005. Latterly, as Project Director, James has coordinated the master-plan and redevelopment of the Stratford Campus of The University of East London, a project which included the redesign of the interior of their main lecture hall, new Bio-Sciences Laboratories, new Clinical Education Centre and a new Computer Library/Lecture Theatre and Education Facility, these commissions representing a combined commission of £17m project value. Also as Project Director, James was involved in the master -planning of Edinburgh Academy School, including the design of a new nursery and after school facility, Junior and Senior Schools. Currently, James is Project Director for the development of Coatbridge College Campus (£3.5m)to be completed mid-2012 and also a new Campus for Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge (£9m) to house a Faculty of Nursing Studies, Administration, Academic Buildings and a 200 seat Lecture Theatre. Prior to joining the practice, James worked within both architectural and lighting design fields in London, Glasgow and Dundee. His continued interest and knowledge of lighting has enabled the practice to expand its design capability in this area. Finally, James is Director in charge of IT and computer development within the practice. |
