An unsuccessful competition entry for Edinburgh's business park, the design proposed a circular five storey tower with a central core of double helix stairs - access and fire escape, lift, WCs etc. This gave a very high net / gross ratio of 85%. The usual roof plant room was piled up to make a lantern tower liberating most of the roof to be used as a communal garden with hot tub, sauna and picnic facilities. Parking in a semi-excavated ground floor continued the circular theme and the mostly glazed facade was protected by a screen of louvres covering 25% of the facade which would have continually circumnavigated the building once a day tracking the sun.
