University Of East London - New Faculty Of Education

University Of East London - New Faculty Of Education

Our fourth commission from the University of East London, this building is placed at the Northern side of the Stratford campus and forms one side of a proposed college quadrangle. The other sides are the existing Arthur Edwards building, our proposed Computer Library and a future new campus learning resource centre.

The Faculty of Education is moving from Barking to temporary facilities on the site and is one of the fastest growing and successful schools within the University. The building is organised around an atrium with large teaching spaces along one side, offices opposite. Within the atrium are two towers of music practice rooms and interview rooms and a small music performance space is expressed as a object by the front door. The atrium is designed to be a busy interactive place with café, information, exhibition area and from the ground floor it is possible to see all the activities of the Faculty on the floors above.

The project is currently on site and anticipate completion by October 2008.
