Bill joined Richard Murphy Architects as Project Architect for the £6.1 million Dundee Contemporary Arts building which opened to great acclaim early in 1999. Subsequently Bill took over the Stirling Tolbooth Arts Centre project for Stirling Council and lead the team for Kirkintilloch Learning Centre, Napier University Computer Centre and the John Muir Birthplace Visitor Centre as well as overseeing a number of smaller projects within the office. His experience in Arts and Education buildings is second to none.

Bill is currently Project Director for our major housing projects at Cramond in Edinburgh, Timmer market in Aberdeen and our two projects within Quartermile’s redevelopment of the site of Edinburgh’s former Royal Infirmary. He is also in charge of our major £35 million hotel and office development at Justice Mill Lane in Aberdeen as well as managing our approach to bids for new projects and competitions.

Prior to joining Richard Murphy Architects, Bill worked in the Edinburgh office of Percy Thomas Partnership on a wide range of projects ranging from housing and commercial/office projects, leisure buildings and workshops right through to major urban planning schemes. Bill has also taught at the University of Edinburgh in the Department of Architecture on a part time basis since1995 and worked in architectural practices in Cambridge, London, and Nairobi.
