Caernarfon Arts and Enterprise Centre grand opening

Caernarfon Arts and Enterprise Centre

Our unique project for Cwmni Tref Caernarfon is a combination of theatre, arts facilities and offices for creative industries in the Caernarfon area. It has already opened with an ambitious programme. (Galeri website - www.galericaernarfon.com)

The official opening is a weekend of events, starting on Friday 1 April and including a Gala performance by local international opera star, Bryn Terfel, on the Friday evening. New photographs have been posted on our website and the building will feature on the front cover and as the major building study of the Architects' Journal on Wednesday 30 March.

Preceding the opening on Thursday 31 March, Richard Murphy and the Project Architect, James Mason, will be giving a talk and walkabout starting at 7.00 pm, tickets from the North Wales Architects' Society - contact Peter Stonebridge, telephone: 01745 815600.


10 Regent Terrace Mews wins Edinburgh Architectural Association "Best Small Project" award 2005

We are delighted that this recently completed project, which was heavily visited during the Cockburn Association Doors Open Day last September, has now received an Award from the EAA at their Annual Ball. The house will feature alongside our new house for Neil and Marion Thomson in the Architects' Journal on 13 April.


Royal Scottish Academy Show

Royal Scottish Academy

Three Architect Members of the RSA, including ourselves, are displaying their projects for the Buildings for the Arts Exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy's Findlay Room.

The Exhibition runs from 25 March to 17 April. Opening times Monday - Friday 10.00 am to 5.00 pm and Sunday 12.00 noon to 5.00 pm, admission is free.

Projects from this office on display include The Fruitmarket Gallery, DCA Dundee, The Stirling Tolbooth Music and Arts Centre, The Eastgate Theatre and Arts Centre, Peebles, The John Muir Birthplace Visitor Centre, Dunbar, The Galeri Arts and Enterprise Centre, Caernarfon, The Centre for Contemporary Art and the Natural World - Poltimore House, North Devon, Invited Competition Entry for the Brandhorst Collection Gallery in Munich and A Feasibility Study for the New Sean Connery Filmhouse, Edinburgh.


News of projects


New potential project

We are delighted that we have been shortlisted for an arts house cinema building in Leicester, "The Moving Image Centre".


Buildings on site

Our new building for The University of East London to house the Departments of Podiatry, Physiotherapy and Education, has started on site. The contractor is Wallis, part of the Kier Groupand the contract is expected to be completed in March 2006.


RCrammond

The first of our houses for AMA (Newtown) Limited at Cramond in Edinburgh is virtually complete, due for the first residents at the end of April. Work has started on the Crescent, in the centre of the site, followed by the apartments later in the summer.


circus lane

Our house for Brian and Lesley Knox on Circus Lane is close to completion with the clients taking up residence in April.

Our housing for Castle Rock Housing Association and offices for EDI on the Cowgate is now about a third the way through construction and the first roof structure has begun to take shape.


Dean Bank Lane

Finally, apartments for Dean Bank Lane, Stockbridge, Edinburgh for Kilmartin Homes Limited (all pre-sold) will be complete at the end of April.


Lectures

Richard delivered the first Patrick Geddes Annual Cockburn Association Lecture to over 300 audience members and will also be talking to the Scottish Young Planners' Conference in the Stirling Tolbooth on 30 March.

He will also be talking to Cork Branch of the Royal Institute of Architects in Ireland on 14 April.

In June Richard will be speaking at the Archiprix International at the City Chambers in Glasgow. Archiprix International is a biennial event presenting the world's best graduation projects from higher education institutions in the fields of architecture, urban design and landscape architecture.
