House In North Berwick

This proposed new five bed roomed house sits on the former tennis court of a substantial property on Cromwell Road, North Berwick, itself now subdivided. Our clients live in the upper flat and wish to move to a downstairs garden-orientated house.

The design describes an L-shaped single storey plan orientated around an internal private garden. All the main family rooms face onto the garden with the Living Room set at a slightly lower level. A children's play area and guest room are also at the lower level looking onto a small court. Internally a long row of rooflights brings top light deep into the plan. From the exterior the house will appear to be no more that an extended garden wall to the main house. No windows look to the north or west, only the entrance penetrates what is meant to feel like a garden wall.
